Cultural competence is considered as an important skill set for the 21st century. This is the ability of a person to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people from various backgrounds and diverse cultural context, including beliefs, values, mindset, and behaviours. Developing cultural competence is a process rather than an end point. It is suitable to highlight citizenship themes and reflect on them during the process. Working together in coordination makes us stronger. It facilitates the cross-fertilization of ideas and participants can take advantage of the available diversity of knowledge, talent, skills within the group. Project-based teaching and learning is chosen as a method focused on team working, that provides a lot of information and techniques to assess the improvements in the teaching/learning activities and the results in terms of new skills and knowledge acquisition and change in attitude. The project-based method is also a process, and the students will be assessing formatively throughout the process. At the end, the developed projects will be part of the summative assessment. Project-based method requires much preparation and planning; distribution of roles and responsibilities; setting out objectives and expected results with objectively verifiable indicators. It supports the development and training of new social skills and builds on the achieved in terms of cultural competence.
